Sugar Grove Facility in West Virginia to be Used as Substance Abuse Treatment Center

A 95-bed substance abuse treatment facility will be located at the former U.S. Sugar Grove Naval Base in Pendleton County, West Virginia.

Highland Hospital, a behavioral health facility located in Charleston, leased the Sugar Grove facility to be used for long-term recovery programs for substance abuse disorder.

The new Highlands at Sugar Grove is a partnership between Tennesse-based Meridian Behavioral Health Systems, which owns Highland Hospital, and New York-based Gersh Academy.

The facility will create an additional 200 jobs in Pendleton County and will become operational on or around July 1.

The campus served as the Naval Information Operations Command until its decommission in 2015.
