Russia Fails to Stop U.S. Attack on Syria

Despite Russia's claim that it would protect Syria from a U.S. attack, the U.S., UK and France illegally targeted several sites in Syria over an alleged chemical attack.

Officials at a Pentagon briefing listed three targets that had been struck:

  • A scientific research facility in Damascus that was allegedly connected to the production of chemical and biological weapons
  • An alleged chemical weapons storage facility west of Homs
  • A alleged chemical weapons equipment storage and command post near Homs

According to Syria's state television, its government forces had brought down 13 missiles. As of Saturday, April 15 at midnight, U.S. eastern time, Syria had not reported details of the damage or the number of people killed.

US Secretary of Defense James "Mad-Dog" Mattis told reporters, "Right now, this is a one-time shot, and I believe it has sent a very strong message."

Trump had earlier stated "We are prepared to sustain this response until the Syrian regime stops its use of prohibited chemical agents."

The UN team that was to investigate the allegations of the use of chemical weapons on April 7th in Douma had not yet even started its investigation and there were questions whether or not a chemical attack had even taken place.

Russia claimed that it had proof that the chemical attack was staged by the U.S. or its allies to justify targeting Syrian government forces that had been defeating the remaining mercenary insurgents.

Russia's Ambassador to the U.S. stated after the attacks, "We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences. All responsibility for them rests with Washington, London and Paris."

Alexander Sherin, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee said, "[Trump] is a criminal — but that's not enough. One can call him Adolf Hitler of today, because look — he even chose the time, just like when Hitler attacked the USSR."

Washington claims that it has evidence that Syria was behind the alleged attack in Douma but has not revealed what the evidence is.

The U.S., Israel, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have been determined to overthrow the regime of Bassar al-Assad and have been waging a brutal proxy war against Syria using various Islamic terrorist organizations while pretending to fight the same groups they have been supporting.

America's war against Syria has been illegal from the start and remains a criminal act. The most recent attacks ordered by Trump were also entirely unconstitutional.

The Islamic State (ISIS, daesh) was defeated not by the U.S. or its allies but by Syria, Russia, Iran, the Kurds and Iraqi forces.

The U.S. has a long history of the covert use of chemical weapons and has yet to destroy its own stockpile as required by treaties. In the 1980s it provided the technology and raw materials to Saddam Hussein to manufacture chemical weapons and encouraged him to use the weapons against Iran, while selling Iran weapons to attack Iraq.

Syria had nothing to gain from using chemical weapons, the rebels it was fighting in Douma were already in retreat and it clearly had the upper hand.

Previous alleged chemical attacks in Syria were linked to U.S. backed forces who had everyting to gain by carrying out chemical weapons attacks and blaming it on the Syrian government to ensure continued support from Washington.

While Bashar al-Assad is certainly a monster that needs to be removed from power and brought to justice, the people that the U.S. would put in his place are worse and would only perpetuate war and suffering. The U.S. has consistently blocked a peaceful resolution to the Syria crisis, perpetuated war and engineered the most horrific atrocities of modern times, all done to enrich an out-of-control war industry and do the bidding of Israel.
